$199.00 / Person · Length: 3 1/2 Hours
Description
Experience one of the most spectacular stretches of the Colorado River on our Horseshoe Bend Petroglyph Kayak Tour, a guided half-day adventure through the towering sandstone walls of Glen Canyon on crystal clear water! Your trip begins at Lee's Ferry , the historic launch point for river travel into the Grand Canyon. From here, you'll board a motorboat for a scenic 10-mile ride upstream ,allowing us to quickly reach one of the most dramatic sections of the canyon.
We travel upriver toward the base of Horseshoe Bend , where the Colorado River curves through massive sandstone walls carved over millions of years. In this section of Glen Canyon, the cliffs of Navajo Sandstone rise approximately 900–1,200 feet above the river, creating one of the most dramatic landscapes in the American Southwest. Our boat lands at Petroglyph Beach, where we step out to explore ancient rock carvings etched into the canyon walls.

REMINDERS: Summer days in Glen Canyon are warm and sunny, with average daytime highs often reaching 90-105 F (32-40 C) during the peak season. Luckily, the river provides the perfect way to cool down. The water in the Colorado River flows from deep below Glen Canyon Dam, keeping it crystal clear and refreshingly cold -typically around 45-55 F (7-13 C) year-round. Along the trip we'll stop at calm beaches where guests can jump in for a quick swim to cool off! Your guide may even kick off a friendly water-gun battle between kayaks , making it a fun and refreshing way to beat the desert heat. Participation is always optional-but highly recommended on a hot day!
